GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the seventh-straight year, Coppin State's baseball team received the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2023-24 academic year.
Coppin State, which accumulated a 3.37 team grade point average for the academic year, was one of three Northeast Conference schools to receive the honor, joining Fairleigh Dickinson and Long Island University.
Since the 2018 season, the first of Coppin's seven-straight Team Academic Excellence Awards, the Eagles have won 115 games which included the Covid-shortened 2020 season. The Eagles had four seasons with at least 20 victories while winning a MEAC Regular Season Championship in 2018 and advancing to its first-ever NCAA Regional in 2022 after winning the MEAC Title.
