PHILADELPHIA – Jarrett Gentles ran in a pair of relays and also competed in the 400m hurdles as Coppin State's men's track & field team competed at the Penn Relays this week at Franklin Field.
Gentles got the meet started by taking 12
th overall in the 400m hurdles in 52.74 on Thursday. The following day, he ran the third leg of the 4x100m relay that finished 13
th in 40.71 and anchored the 4x400m relay to a season-best time of 3:09.12, where they took 14
th overall and clocked the seventh-fastest time in school history.
Noxroy Wright led off both relays, and he was followed by
Carl Drakes, Gentles and
Solomon Hammond in the 4x1.
Daniel Cunningham ran the second leg of the 4x4 and was followed by Drakes, and a split of 45.98, and Gentles.
Coppin also entered the Sprint Medley Relay and the quartet of
Cole Schlotterbeck, Etiam Torgbenu, Jayeed Norbal and
Asa Francis finished 8
th in 3:24.32.
James Bell also entered the high jump and finished 9
th by clearing 2.01m (6' 7") on his second attempt.
The Eagles will head to Norfolk, Va., for the MEAC Championships on May 6-8.
