TOWSON, Md. – Noxroy Wright won both the 100m and 200m dash while the 4x400m Relay was also victorious for Coppin State men's track & field at the Towson Spring Opener on Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
A senior from Kingston, Jamaica, Wright won the 100m dash in 10.50 while clocking a 21.18 in the 200m, edging
Carl Drakes in both events. Drakes took second in 10.58 and 21.44, respectively, while
Cole Schlotterbeck clocked a 11.06 in the 100m dash to take sixth. Wright moved into CSU's top ten in the 100m and eighth in the 200m.
Coming off a gold medal at the MEAC Indoor Championships in the 800m and 4x400m Relay,
Asa Francis led off the relay to a win in 3:15.27. He was followed by
Etiam Torgbenu,
Jayeed Norbal and
Alexander Dobson-Honablue. Francis also took third in the 1,500m in 4:05.00 with
Humed Nura (4:15.59), Torgbenu (4:16.99) and Norbal (4:17.30) also competing.
Also, medaling was
Daniel Cunningham in the 400m (49.91) with a second-place finish and
Amiri Goode in the 110m hurdles (16.12) which placed him third.
Dobson-Honablue finished the 400m in 51.33 with Gentles running a 1:03.06 in the 400m hurdles. Nura covered the 5,000m in 16:19.06 and
Andrew Betton tossed the shot put 32' 9."
Coppin State returns to the track on March 22-23 at the Maryland Invitational.
