BALTIMORE – Coppin State's baseball team was picked to finish sixth in the Northeast Conference in D1baseball.com's NEC season preview which was announced earlier this week. The Eagles were ranked behind Central Connecticut State, Wagner, Fairleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart and Merrimack.
Among the individuals highlighted were
Brody Black, who produced a .905 OPS and went 16-for-20 on steals, and
Ricky Jones, who 'won the job in center this fall, showing blazing speed to go with raw power and tremendous defense.'
Daniel Moore was a listed as a 'glue guy' who will be used as a utility player.
Chris Marte was recognized as Coppin's top newcomer, 'showing a compact swing with power and a disciplined approach.'
The publication also listed its top MLB Draft prospects for the next two classes with
Ricky Jones and
Reagan Rivera ranking third and fourth, respectively, in the conference for the 2024 Draft. For the 2025 Draft,
Chris Marte is ranked third, followed by
Angel Colon in tenth. Marte was also ranked second among the NEC's 'Impact Freshmen.'
The Eagles open the 2024 season with a three-game home series against Creighton on February 16-18 at Joe Cannon Stadium.
