NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Blessing Lawrence has been named the MEAC Bowling Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday morning. This is the first weekly award that Lawrence has earned in her collegiate career.
A freshman from Providence, R.I., Lawrence finished 23
rd at the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament in her collegiate debut, recording a total pinfall of 945 for an average of 189.00 pins per game. Lawrence posted a 209 in a victory over LIU and another 215 in a Bye match to close out traditional play. For the weekend, Lawrence averaged 17.97 pins per frame while recording a 77.6 overall fill percentage.
Lawrence and the Eagles return to the lanes on October 25-27 at the Virginia Union Invitational, held at Bowl America Southwest in Midlothian, Va.
