Bowling's Brockington, Johnson Named NTCA All-Academic Scholar Athletes

Prairie View, TX – Coppin State's Abigail Brockington, a rising junior from Greensboro N.C., and Shakyia Johnson, a rising senior from Virginia Beach, Va., have both been named NTCA All-Academic Scholar Athletes, it was announced by the organization on Monday Afternoon. 

The National Tenpin Coaches Association recognized 405 student-athletes from 68 NCAA Bowling programs that were been recognized as National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Scholar Athletes for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.

The NTCA All-Academic Team honors collegiate bowlers who have excelled in the classroom while competing at the highest levels of the sport. To be eligible, student-athletes must have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.4 during the academic year.

Brockington, who majors in management information systems, averaged 16.66 pins/frame while totaling a 70.6 overall fill percentage this season.  She converted on 78.3 percent of her single-pin spare attempts and was the team's primary leadoff bowler.

Johnson majors in sports management and tallied 16.24 pins per frame to go with a 67.9 overall fill percentage.  Totaling 220 strikes, Johnson converted on over 60 percent of her makeable spares.
