UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Jarrett Gentles posted a school-record in the 600m dash while a plethora of sprinters made moves up the MEAC's top times this weekend at the Penn State National Open.
Gentles clocked a 1:18.34 in the 600m dash, eclipsing the old mark by over two full seconds, and he also anchored the 4x400m to a third-place finish in 3:13.63.
Noxroy Wright led off the relay, followed by
Carl Drakes who split the fastest time of the event in 46.78, and
Rashaun Stewart.
Drakes took second in the 200m dash in 21.40, followed by
Solomon Hammond in fourth (21.57) and Wright in sixth (21.69). Wright clocked a 6.84 in the 60m dash, followed by Drakes in 6.89 and
Cole Schlotterbeck in 7.00.
Stewart finished sixth in the 400m dash in 48.43, ahead of teammate
Alexander Dobson-Honablue in 50.36.
Asa Francis ran the MEAC's top time in the 800m Run this season, finishing in 1:53.26 to set a personal record.
Jayeed Norbal was next in 1:58.27.
Anthony Harris posted a qualifying time of 8.43 in the 60m hurdles before running a 8.52 in the semifinals.
Coppin heads back North on February 2-3 to compete at Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational.
