BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Coppin State's
Keith Gardner was named the Northeast Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly award that Gardner has earned in his career.
A freshman infielder from Franklintown, N.C., Gardner hit .545 (6-for-11) with two RBI while scoring two runs along with a double and a walk. Gardner opened the series at Long Island University with a pair of three-hit games, his first six collegiate base hits, driving in a run in each game.
Gardner is currently 6-for-13 (.462) on the season with three runs scored.
The Eagles head to Delaware State for a pivotal three-game NEC series on May 12-14.
