JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Coppin State's
Jeff Hammond leaped 7.07m (23' 2.5") in the long jump at the NCAA East Preliminaries, hosted by University of North Florida on Wednesday night at Hodges Stadium.
A junior from Kumasi, Ghana, Hammond finished 42
nd overall in the event with his second effort being his best attempt. Hammond opened the flight with a mark of 6.73m (22' 1.0") before putting together his best performance of the night. In his final attempt, Hammond jumped 6.93m (22' 9.0).
Latifa Ali and
Kimani Alphonse will run in the 400m dash on Thursday, May 25 at 7:25 pm. Alphonse will be in the first heat while Ali is in the fifth heat.
James Bell will compete in the men's high jump on Thursday, May 26 at 2:30 pm.
