PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Coppin State's track & field teams battled wild and rainy conditions at the Penn Relays over the weekend and were led by a third-place finish by the women's 4x200m Relay.
The quartet of
Gifty Oku, Latifa Ali, Halutie Hor and
Kimani Alphonse won their heat of the 4x200m Relay in 1:38.17, placing just behind teams from South Florida and Auburn. Those four also ran in the 4x100m Relay that took 13
th in 46.27.
Ali and Hor competed on the Eagles' 4x400m Relay that finished 18
th in 3:55.93 along with
Shenelle Tomlinson and
Destinee Mcleod. In the sprint medley relay, CSU took 10
th in 4:08.13 with Oku, Tomlinson, Mcleod and
Jahmei Wyatt in the mix.
On the men's side, the sprint medley relay of
Solomon Hammond, Bryce Pepukayi, Randy Serville and
Amadou Ba finished 7
th in 3:32.25. Serville anchored the 4x400m Relay of
Carl Drakes, Rashaun Stewart and
Daniel Cunningham in 3:17.18.
CSU returns to the track on May 9-11 for the MEAC Championships, hosted by Norfolk State.
