COLUMBIA, S.C. – Coppin State's men's track & field team opened its outdoor season at the Weems Baskin Relays, hosted by University of South Carolina this weekend.
Solomon Hammond made his CSU debut and finished second in the 100m dash, finishing in 10.52 which is the seventh-fastest time in school-history. Hammond also ran a leg of the 4x100m Relay that took third in 40.37 along with
Bryce Pepukayi,
Noxroy Wright and
Rashaun Stewart. CSU also ran a 'B' relay of
Cole Schlotterbeck,
Anthony Harris,
Etiam Torgbenu and
Myles Small which clocked in at 42.06.
The Eagles ran a pair of impressive 4x400m Relays with the quartet of Stewart,
Randy Serville,
Daniel Cunningham and
Amadou Ba taking third in 3:15.31. CSU's 'B' Relay of Torgbenu, Hammond,
Ivan Wiggins-Ingram and Small finished just behind at sixth place in 3:18.56.
Ba took sixth overall in the 800m in 1:54.15 while Stewart led a trio of Eagles in the 400m dash in 48.87. He was followed by Small in 49.23 and Torgbenu in 49.48.
Wiggins also took seventh in the 400m hurdles in 55.57 while
James Bell cleared 6' 4.0" in the high jump to finish eighth.
Amiri Goode also competed in the 400m hurdles (58.18).
Cunningham made his debut in the 800m Run (2:08.83).
Schlotterbeck doubled up in the 100m dash (10.88) and 200m dash (22.07), with Small and Harris just behind in the 200m dash in 22.12 and 22.33, respectively. Harris crossed the finish of the 110m hurdles in 15.68.
Coppin returns to the track on April 1-2 for the Towson Invitational.
