NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Logan Brown and
Kaylah Castillo have been named to the All-MEAC Bowling Third Team, it was announced by the league office on Friday morning. This is the first time that either Brown or Castillo have made the All-MEAC Team and they are first Eagles to receive All-Conference accolades since Nia Turner did so during the 2019-20 season.
A junior from Waldorf, Md., Brown led Coppin with a 184.23 average during traditional matches which included a 246 against Mount St. Mary's at the Bud Whitman Memorial where she won the individual title. Brown recorded over a 200 in seven matches this season and was victorious at the Virginia Union Invitational. She led the team with an 18.66 average per frame, 80.1 overall fill percentage and 41.0 strike percentage. Brown ranked 19
th in the MEAC in Player Composite Performance Index (PCPI), which also led the team.
Castillo finished second to Brown with a 183.45 average in traditional play while leading the Eagles with 13 games of at least 200 pins. A graduate student from Orlando, Fla., Castillo won the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational while placing fourth at both the Mount St. Mary's Shootout and Virginia Union Invitational. She also took sixth at the season-opening Bud Whitman Memorial, averaging 18.13 pins per frame, a 78.8 overall fill percentage and was one of the league's top performers in spare conversions and percentage.
The Eagles will be the sixth seed at the 2023 MEAC Tournament where they'll open against #3 Monmouth at 9:00 am on Friday, March 24 in a double elimination tournament.
