Bowling Advances in MEAC Championships with Victory Over Norfolk State

| By:
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Coppin State's bowling team defeated seventh-seeded Norfolk State in its second match of the day on Friday afternoon at Pinboy's at the Beach to advance to the second day of the MEAC Championships.

After dropping a mega match to third-seeded Monmouth, 2-0, Coppin eliminated the Spartans with a 2-0 win.  The Eagles opened with a 1,018-832 win in traditional format – the only team to eclipse 1,000 pins in that format for the day – and three Coppin bowlers broke the 200-pin mark. Kaylah Castillo and Logan Brown, both of whom were named Third Team All-MEAC, bowled a 237 and 215, respectively, while Elizabeth Stokley added a 201.

Earlier in the day, Coppin fell to the Hawks, 931-851 in traditional play, while taking just one of five games in Baker format, 171-161. Temira White led the Eagles with a 192.

The sixth-seeded Eagles will take on #5 Morgan State in an elimination match at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 25. Morgan State bested #4 UAB in its opener before falling to top-ranked North Carolina A&T.
