SOMERSET, N.J. - Coppin State's
Marcos Herrand has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly honor that Herrand has received from the NEC, and he's the first CSU pitcher to ever receive the honor.

A sophomore from Brandon, Fla., Herrand gave up just six hits in a complete game shutout victory at Merrimack last Saturday. Herrand struck out a career-high seven in the longest outing of his career.

Herrand is 2-3 on the season with a 6.37 earned run average while striking out 18 batters in 29.2 innings of work.

The Eagles host UMBC at 3 pm on Tuesday, March 21 before welcoming Fairleigh Dickinson for a three-game NEC series on March 24-26.
