Team Gold Takes Opening Game of Fall World Series with 3-1 Victory

TEAM GOLD PITCHING STARS:
  • Transfer Alek Elges continued his dominance with three shutout innings, striking out six batters. Elges allowed just one run in 11 innings this Fall.
  • Freshman Jackson Montgomery got the save, allowing no earned runs with three strikeouts.
TEAM GOLD HITTING STARS:
  • Freshman Chris Marte, who's hitting .400 for the Fall Season, went 1-for-3 with a two-run double off the base of the left centerfield fence. His second RBI proved to be the game-winning run.
  • Senior Anthony Divittorio singled and scored Gold's second run while senior Brody Black singled and scored Gold's third run.
  • Transfer Daniel Moore singled in Gold's first run while drawing walks in his other two plate appearances.
TEAM NAVY PITCHING STARS:
  • Freshman Kaden Straily pitched 1.2 innings and did not allow an earned run while striking out two.
TEAM NAVY OFFENSIVE STARS:
  • Freshman Ethan Acevedo doubled and a stole a base.
  • Sophomore Brett Griggs singled and drew a walk.
Team Navy looks to even the series as Game Two of the Fall World Series is set for Friday, November 3 at Joe Cannon Stadium. First pitch is slated for 2:30 pm. Should Team Navy win, a home run derby will commence to break the tie in the series.
