Cross Country Returns with 2nd & 3rd Place Finishes at Coach Caslin Classic

TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's men's and women's cross country teams took second and third place, respectively, in their races at the Coach Caslin Classic, hosted by Goucher College on Friday afternoon.

Asa Francis led the men's squad with a time of 30:23.7 on the 8-kilometer (5-mile) course to finish ninth overall. Finishing just over a minute after was freshman Humed Nura in 15th place, clocking in at 31:24.6. He was followed by freshman Stephen Spencer (32:45.7), Jayeed Norbal (36:01.2) and Amiri Goode (40:13.7).

On the women's side, Brianna Benton led the way in 29:34.5 to finish 11th on the 6K course. Kimani Alphonse and Kaelyn Woodrum came in nearly back-to-back at 33:24 and 33:44.4 with Destinee Lewis (34:58.4) and Shenelle Tomlinson (39:39.2) rounding out the top five for the Eagles.

CSU heads to the Delaware Invitational on Friday, October 13 at 9:30 am.
