NEWARK, Del. – Coppin State's men's cross country team finished fifth of seven teams at the University of Delaware Invitational on Friday morning at White Clay Creek State Park. The women's squad finished eighth in the team standings.
Etiam Torgbenu and
Humed Nura ran season-best times of 29:30.9 and 29:51.4, respectively, to lead the men's squad.
Asa Francis turned in a 31:02.3 on the 8K (5-mile course) and was followed by
Carl Drakes (35:38.9),
Amiri Goode (35:37.0) and
Stephen Spencer (36:29.4).
CSU ran a contingent of sprinters on the women's side and were led by
Kimani Alphonse (31:08.7),
Gifty Oku (31:33.4) and
Kaelyn Woodrum (32:22.8) in the 6K.
Destinee Lewis and
Shenelle Tomlinson registered points for the Navy & Gold while
Angel Davis also finished.
The Eagles will wrap up the cross country season at the MEAC Championships, hosted by Delaware State University, on October 28 at 11:00 am.
