James Bell Takes Second in High Jump for Men’s Track & Field at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – James Bell led the Coppin State men's track & field team with a second place finish in the high jump at the Penn State National Open at Ashenfelter Track this weekend.
 
A junior from Newark, N.J., Bell cleared 6' 9.0" in the high jump but took second in the event due to missing twice at 2.06m.  Bell's mark is the second-best in CSU history, trailing just Brandon Baskerville who cleared 7' 0.25" on February 25, 2011, at the New York Armory Collegiate Indoor Championships.
 
In sprint events, Daniel Cunningham placed sixth in the 400m dash in 48.85, followed by Rashaun Stewart in 49.27. The duo led off the 4x400m Relay to a time of 3:16.60 and were followed by Noxroy Wright and Jayeed Norbal. Norbal also took seventh in the 600m Dash (1:20.13).
 
Amadou Ba finished the 1,000m Run in 2:35.85 while Bryce Pepukayi took fifth in the 200m dash open (22.45).
 
Cole Schlotterbeck doubled in the 60m (7.17) and 200m dash (23.25) while Anthony Harris (8.67), Amiri Goode (8.74) and Ivan Wiggins-Ingram (8.94) competed in the 60m hurdles.
 
Coppin returns to the track for the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational, hosted by Boston University on February 3-4.
