BLACKSBURG, Va. – Ammaarah Williams notched a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs while fellow middle hitter
Geraldyn Palacios added ten kills, but it was not enough as Coppin State's volleyball team fell to Marist, 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-17, 25-18) in the final day of the Virginia Tech Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.
A graduate student from Cleveland, Ohio, Williams' 13 kills and 12 digs were both season highs as she posted her first double-double of the season, and the sixth of her career. Palacios also recorded a season-high in kills while hitting a whopping .533 on 15 swings to go with a team-high three blocks.
Miajavon Coleman added nine kills while
Hope Casel tallied eight and
Ahzhi Coleman chipped in with three.
Andrea Tsvetanova just missed a double-double, assisting on 40 kills to go with eight digs while serving up three aces as
Ayanna Pharoah added eight digs of her own.
Ashley Roman's streak of 21 matches with double-digit digs ended as the senior from Isabela, P.R., managed just six digs.
The Nation's leader in service aces coming into the weekend, Tsvetanova now has 24 aces on the season and 75 in her career.
