EUGENE, Ore. – Coppin State's
Joseph Manu will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 8-11 at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. The subject of today's Baltimore Sun story, Manu is set to compete in both the 100m and 200m dash and Wednesday's night's races will air live on ESPNU.
A senior from Accra, Ghana, Manu will run in the National Semifinals of the 100m dash on Wednesday at 8:46 pm Eastern Time. Later that night, Manu's 200m dash is set for 9:44 pm Eastern.
Manu can automatically advance to the National Championship Finals in either event on Friday night should he finish in the top two of his heat or have one of the three fastest times among non-automatic qualifiers. Friday's 100m dash will be run at 9:52 pm, followed by the 200m dash at 10:37 pm, both televised on ESPN2.
This is the first time that Manu has advanced to the National Championships in an individual event after qualifying for Nationals on three different relays.
