BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Coppin State's Joseph Manu qualified for the NCAA Quarterfinals in both the 100m and 200m dash with his performances in the First Round on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at Haugh Track & Field Complex.

A senior from Accra, Ghana, Manu clocked a personal wind-legal record of 10.12 in the 100m dash and automatically qualified for the next round with a third-place finish.  Manu finished just behind Florida's Joseph Fahnbulleh and JoVaughn Martin of Florida State in his heat while edging out time qualifiers, Eric Harrison of Ohio State and Florida State's Taylor Banks.

Later in the day, after a significant weather delay with thunderstorms in the Bloomington area, Manu automatically qualified for the Quarterfinals with a third-place finish in his heat of the 200m dash. Manu ran a 20.47, following Alabama's Tarsis Orogot and Ismael Kone of New Orleans.

The men's Quarterfinals of the 100m dash is set for Friday, May 27 at 6:35 pm, followed by the 200m dash at 7:50 pm.  The top three from each heat, plus the next three fastest times among all competitors, will advance to the National Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 8-11.
