Bowling Drops Opening Matches to Delaware State, Norfolk State at MEAC Championship

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Entering the MEAC Championship as the seventh seed, Coppin State's bowling team dropped its first two matches this weekend and were eliminated from title contention after Saturday at Pinboy's at the Beach.
 
Opening the Tournament against second-seeded Delaware State on Thursday, the Eagles fell to the Hornets, 2-0 as DSU won both the traditional format and Baker total pinfall.  The Hornets took the traditional portion 993-882 despite Jalyne Myers' 211 score. 
 
Coppin State opened Baker total pinfall with a clean first game, filling every frame en route to a 212-168 win. But the Hornets answered with scores of 205-148, 223-152, 184-157 and 208-158 to take the round 988-827 and win the match.
 
On Saturday, CSU was matched up against Norfolk State and the Spartans came away victorious, 2-0. Logan Brown was the high scorer for the Eagles with a 177 as NSU took the traditional portion, 902-723.
