COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Randy Serville and
Joseph Manu led the Coppin State track & field team in its outdoor season opener at the Maryland Invitational on a very windy Saturday afternoon at Kehoe Track.
Serville took second overall, and first among collegiate athletes, in the 400m dash with a time of 49.85. Manu clocked a 22.01 in the 200m dash to take second in that event as well.
Amiri Goode and
Ivan Wiggins took fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 400m hurdles in times of 58.26 and 59.38. Goode also took eighth in the long jump while
Jeff Hammond followed Manu closely in the 200m dash with a time of 22.56 to take fifth overall.
Jayeed Norbal opened his outdoor season with a 2:00.20 in the 800m Run, placing eighth overall.
Amadou Ba scored for the Eagles in the 1,500m Run, taking eighth in 4:06.81.
Also competing for the Eagles were
Jervonne Agard (51.79) and
Mauriel Carty (52.77) in the 400m dash and
Bryce Pepukayi (23.93) in the 200m dash.
The Eagles return to the track on March 25-26 for the Weems Baskin Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina.
