Baseball Announces 2023 Season Schedule: Program’s First as a Northeast Conference Member

BALTIMORE – Coming off a MEAC Championship and entering its first season as a member of the Northeast Conference, the Coppin State baseball program released its 2023 schedule on Thursday afternoon. Highlighted on the docket are 21 home games and a three-game road trip at Oregon State.
 
Coppin opens the season at home, at the newly renovated Joe Cannon Stadium, for a three-game series against Saint Peter's on February 17-19. The Eagles also host Mount St. Mary's on February 21 before making the West Coast trip to Oregon State on February 24-26.
 
Following a midweek matchup at Navy (March 1), Coppin wraps up its eight-game road trip with a three-game series at Virginia Military Institute (March 3-5), and another midweek at Lehigh (March 8) before opening NEC play at home against Wagner (March 10-12).
 
The Eagles will play all ten NEC members in three-game series' with Fairleigh Dickinson (March 24-26), Stonehill (April 14-16), Sacred Heart (April 28-30) and Norfolk State (May 18-20) making the trip to Hanover, Md. Northeast Conference road trips are scheduled for Merrimack (March 17-19), Maryland Eastern Shore (April 6-8), Central Connecticut State (April 21-23), Long Island University (May 5-7) and Delaware State (May 12-14).
 
Elsewhere on the schedule are eight additional midweek games, with home-and-home series' against Georgetown and UMBC, as well as road games at Towson, Navy, Lehigh and Mount St. Mary's.
 
Head Coach Sherman Reed enters his 13th season at the helm of the Eagles program which is coming off its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance and at least 20 victories in three of the last four years. The entire infield, featuring four First Team All-Conference players, returns from a season ago, as does pitcher/outfielder Jordan Hamberg who was the 2022 MEAC Pitcher of the Year, one of five finalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year, and a NCBWA All-American.
