NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Colleen Bucknor was named the MEAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first time this season, and the second of her career, that Bucknor has received a MEAC weekly award.
A redshirt sophomore from Miami, Fla., Bucknor averaged 9.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a pair of games last week. Bucknor opened the week with seven points and five rebounds at Rhode Island before going off for a double-double 12 points and 14 rebounds on Sunday at Old Dominion. It was Bucknor's first career double-double and the 14 rebounds were a career-high.
Bucknor is averaging 7.1 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds this season along with six assists, six steals and a pair of blocks in seven games.
The Eagles (2-5) return to action on Thursday, December 1 in a 7 pm tipoff at Campbell which will air on ESPN+.
