Nendah Tarke Named MEAC Men’s Basketball Preseason First Team; Eagles Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll

NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's Nendah Tarke has been named to the MEAC Men's Basketball Preseason First Team, it was announced by the league office on its Preseason Video Conference on Thursday morning.  Additionally, in the Predicted Order of Finish which was voted on by the MEAC's head coaches and sports information directors, the Eagles were picked to finish fifth.
 
A redshirt sophomore from Gaithersburg, Md., Tarke led the Nation with 2.94 steals per game while ranking second in total steals (94) which set a CSU single-season record.  Tarke averaged 13.4 points per game while also ranking second in the MEAC in rebounds (6.8) and in the top ten in assists (2.7).  Earning a reputation as one of the most clutch players nationally, Tarke hit four game-winners in the final ten seconds of games, including three buzzer-beaters, both of which led the Nation.
 
Tarke also made the second-most free throws in the MEAC while attempting the most and notched seven double-doubles which were also the second-most in the league.  He reached double figures in scoring in 25 games, had at least four assists in ten games, multiple steals in all but four contests, and scored a career-high 27 points at eventual conference champion Norfolk State.
 
The Eagles, guided by head coach Juan Dixon who is now in his sixth season at the helm, open the 2022-23 season with back-to-back road games at Charlotte on Monday, November 7 before playing Georgetown on November 8 on FS1.
