NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Logan Brown has been named the MEAC Bowling Co-Player of the Week while
Elizabeth Stokley was recognized as the league's Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly award of both Brown and Stokley's collegiate careers.
A junior from Waldorf, Md., Brown was named MVP of the Bud Whitman Memorial this past weekend after posting the highest total pinfall in traditional play (1,028) for an average of 205.6 pins per game. In 95 total frames, Brown averaged 19.6 pins and had an average first ball of 9.11. Brown had a 53.1% strike rate and an 80.2 fill percentage in helping the Eagles finish fifth in the team standings. In a traditional match against 11
th-ranked Mount St. Mary's, Brown bowled a career-high 246 while adding a 219 against Howard and a 211 versus Wilmington.
Stokley made her collegiate debut this past weekend and bowled a weekend-best 203 against No. 11 Mount St. Mary's in traditional competition at the Bud Whitman Memorial. In 65 total frames, the freshman from Elizabeth City, N.C., averaged an 8.77 on the first ball and had a 40.0% strike rate.
The Eagles return to the lanes on October 15-16 for the Mount St. Mary's Shootout, held at Sunshine Lanes in Waynesboro, Pa.
