BALTIMORE – Headlined by four games to be played in PEC Arena, including perennial powerhouse Maryland on December 21, the Coppin State women's basketball team announced its 13-game non-conference slate for the 2021-22 season on Friday morning.
The Eagles open their season at La Salle on November 9 before hosting William & Mary on Thursday, November 11. Coppin will finish out the month at Rhode Island (Nov. 14) and East Carolina (Nov. 23) before welcoming Saint Francis (Pa.) on Nov. 28.
As December rolls around, the Eagles will travel for four-straight games at Marshall (Dec. 4), Pittsburgh (Dec. 7), Saint Peter's (Dec. 11) and Georgetown (Dec. 13) before hosting head coach
Laura Harper's alma mater, Maryland Terrapins on December 21. The Eagles close out the calendar year at George Mason (Dec. 28) and Richmond (Dec. 29).
All game times and television schedules will be announced at a later date. MEAC play will open on January 8 as Coppin will play a home-and-home series with the other seven conference programs. The MEAC Tournament is scheduled for March 9-12 at Norfolk Scope Arena.
Coppin is led by a pair of MEAC All-Conference Teams selections in
Aliyah Lawson and
Jalynda Salley. Lawson, who finished second in the MEAC in scoring (14.5 ppg), was named to the second team while Salley, who led the Eagles in rebounds (8.8 rpg) and blocks (18), was named to the third team.
