EUGENE, Ore. – Coppin State's
Joseph Amoah clocked a 10.21 in the Semifinals of the 100m dash on Wednesday night to qualify for the NCAA National Championship Round at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. The finals of the 100m dash will be run on Friday, June 11 at 8:52 pm and be televised live on ESPN2.
A senior from Greater Accra, Ghana, Amoah finished fourth in his heat of the 100m dash to secure the eighth fastest time in the semifinal and advance. Amoah also finished fourth in his heat of the 200m dash in 20.51, taking tenth overall.
Amoah also ran the second leg of Coppin's 4x100m Relay, along with
Joseph Manu,
Malik John and
Abayie Opuni, which finished 15
th overall in a season-best time of 39.51. The relay's time is the second-fastest in school-history as the Eagles bested teams from Mississippi State, Oregon, Kentucky, Purdue, North Carolina State, Norfolk State and Sam Houston State.
With the 15
th place finish, Coppin's relay members earned Second Team All-America status while Amoah collected the same honors in the 200m dash with a 10
th place performance.
