GREENSBORO, N.C. – Coppin State's
Joseph Amoah won the 100m dash and led the 4x100m Relay to victory at the Aggie Classic Twilight on Sunday afternoon at North Carolina A&T's Irwin Belk Track. The meet served as a last chance for Eagles competitors to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville on May 27-29.
A senior from Accra, Ghana, Amoah clocked a 10.20 in the finals of the 100m dash to win by nearly a quarter of a second. Earlier in the afternoon, Amoah ran a leg of the 4x100m Relay which took gold in 39.88. Accompanying Amoah on the relay was
Abayie Opuni,
Malik John and
Joseph Manu. Amoah also teamed with Opuni, John and
Amadou Ba in the 4x400m Relay which placed second in 3:12.72.
Opuni took second in the 400m dash in 47.58 while Manu and John took fourth in the 100m dash and 200m dash, respectively, in times of 10.52 and 21.38. Manu also took seventh in the 200m dash in 21.59 while John crossed the 100m dash in 10.84.
Ba also ran in the 800m Run and clocked a personal-best time of 1:51.30 while
Randy Serville finished in 1:55.12.
In the 110m hurdles,
Aaron Lewis ran his best time of the season to take third in 14.27 while
Ivan Wiggins-Ingram (56.90) and
Amiri Goode (58.26) competed in the 400m hurdles.
Also competing was
Jervonne Agard in the 400m dash (51.59).
