TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's
Joseph Amoah won the 400m dash as the Eagles' men's track & field team medaled in seven events at the Towson Invitational this weekend at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Amoah took the 400m dash in 47.64, edging out teammate
Malik John who took second in 47.99.
Coppin went 2-3 in the 800m as
Amadou Ba clocked a 1:54.44, just ahead of
Cheyenne Johnson who finished in 1:56.40. Ba also took sixth in the 1,500m in 4:07.92.
Balvin Richards earned medals in both the shot put and discus as he won the silver in the shot put (45' 6.25") and bronze in the discus (129' 4").
Muriel Carty also medaled, taking third in the 200m dash in 22.04.
Ivan Wiggins-Ingram doubled up in the 800m (2:03.90) and 400m hurdles where he finished fifth in 58.58, just ahead of
Amiri Goode (1:00.92). Goode also clocked a 53.14 in the 400m dash.
Finally,
Jervonne Agard ran the 100m dash in 11.40 and the 200m dash in 23.12.
The Eagles return to the track at the Delaware State Sting Meet on Wednesday, April 7 before competing at the North Carolina A&T Invitational on April 9-10.
