Coppin Women Hoops Announces Staff Updates

BALTIMORE – Daija Black from the Coppin State women's basketball team has been elevated to assistant coach as announced by head coach Laura Harper Tuesday morning.

"We are grateful for Daija's service to our program," said Harper.  "She has exhibited exemplary service and sacrifice and continues to exceed our expectations.  Daija has a basketball mind, and we look forward to watching her growth with Coppin."

Black started at Coppin as a volunteer coach in November 2020 working with all conference players and guards and then was promoted to Graduate Assistant Coach in October 2021.

A graduate from College of St. Joseph/Elms, Black worked as an intern with the sports information department during undergrad. In undergrad, Black was First-Team All-Defense for three consecutive years at CSJ. She was named CSJ athlete of the week six times and maintained a 3.0-3.5 all four years. She received her bachelor's degree in sports management in 2020 and is currently pursuing her masters in adult and continuing education.

She also volunteers her time at Rutland Community Cupboard, Spartan Race, Boys & Girls Club, Vermont Retirement home, Vermont Food Bank.
