NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Aliyah Lawson has been named the MEAC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly award of Lawson's collegiate career.
A junior from Whitby, Ontario, Canada, Lawson led all players with 18 points in the Eagles' comeback victory over Delaware State on Monday night. Lawson hit 6-of-15 shots from the floor, including a career-high five 3-pointers in the win while also being credited with six rebounds and three steals.
In Coppin's three games this season, Lawson has averaged a team-high 15.0 points while also pacing the Eagles with seven assists and five steals. Lawson's 15.0 points are currently fifth in the MEAC and she ranks ninth in the conference in assists while leading the conference in 3-point field goals made per game.
Lawson and the Eagles will look to sweep back-to-back games with the Hornets as they clash once again at PEC Arena on Tuesday, November 5 at 5:30 pm.
