Manu, Opuni Sweep Sprint Events as Men’s Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at VMI Team Challenge

LEXINGTON, Va. – Joseph Manu won both the 60m and 200m dash while Abayie Opuni took the 400m dash as Coppin State's men's track & field team opened its season at the VMI Team Challenge at Cormack Field House on Saturday afternoon.
 
Manu crossed first in the 60m dash in a time of 6.80 after clocking a 6.82 in the preliminaries earlier in the day.  Manu doubled up to take gold in the 200m dash in 21.34, blowing out the next closest competitor by over half a second.
 
Opuni won the 400m in 48.09, outkicking the second-place finisher by nearly two full seconds.  Jervonne Agard also competed in the event and clocked a 52.07.
 
Making his CSU debut, Amadou Ba placed third in the 800m Run in 1:57.15, while Balvin Richards finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 45' 6.5".
 
Coppin returns to the track on Saturday, February 6 at the East Coast Invitational held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
