Joseph Amoah was named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-American in the 200m dash, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
A senior from Greater Accra, Ghana, Amoah is receiving All-America honors for the fourth time in his career. This is the first time that Amoah has received All-America accolades during the indoor season after receiving First Team honors in both the 100m and 200m dash last outdoor season, as well as Second Team distinction in the 4x100m Relay.
Amoah won the 2020 MEAC Indoor Championship in the 200m dash in 21.09 after winning gold and running a school-record 20.75 in the event at the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational. He also took the silver at the MEAC Championship in both the 60m dash and 4x400m Relay. Entering the NCAA National Championship, Amoah had clocked the seventh-fastest time in the 200m dash this season.
Amoah has qualified for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics for his native Ghana in the 100m and 200m dash as well as the 4x100m Relay. Amoah owns the Ghanaian national record in the 200m dash (20.08).
Due to the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, the NCAA Division I Track & Field Executive committee determined that all individuals listed on the startlist for the National Championship would be recognized as All-Americans without the distinction of first team, second team or honorable mention.
