BOSTON, Mass. – Coppin State's
Joseph Amoah won the 200m dash at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational in a school-record 20.75 on Saturday afternoon at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center. A native of Greater Accra, Ghana, Amoah's time is the third-fastest in the Nation this season and breaks
Martin Owusu-Antwi's school-record of 20.79.
Joseph Manu also picked up an individual victory, winning the 60m dash in 6.86.
Malik John had a great day in the short sprints, taking third in the 60m dash in 6.94 and fourth in the 200m dash in 21.53.
Theodore Westcarr clocked a 6.99 in the 60m dash prelims and ran a 22.18 in the 200m dash, edging out teammate
Aaron Lewis (22.20).
A trio of Eagles recorded personal records in the 800m Run with
Cheyenne Johnson leading the way in 1:53.69.
Randy Serville was just behind in 1:54.62 while
Ivan Wiggins-Ingram ran sub-2:00 in 1:59.71. Johnson and Serville are now ranked third and fourth, respectively in the MEAC in the event, and later in the day ran the first two legs of the 4x400m Relay that took third in 3:19.48 along with
Jervonne Agard and
Eryk Goode.
Goode and Agard doubled up on the day, running in the open 400m dash.
Abayie Opuni led the 400m runners in 49.25 while Goode clocked a 51.19 and Agard a 51.63.
Nku Henry finished the event in 52.47.
Michael Scott also took sixth in the long jump (21' 4.25") while
Yamoussa Sylla took fourth in the triple jump (43' 11.75") and seventh in the long jump (20' 10.50").
The Eagles return to the track at the Albany Invitational on Friday, February 7 at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
