Women’s Hoops Releases 2019-20 Season Schedule

BALTIMORE – Coppin State University released its 2019-20 women's basketball schedule which features a pair of non-conference home games and seven teams that made the postseason in 2019.
 
The Eagles open their season on the road against perennial powerhouse Rutgers, which made its 16th NCAA Tournament last year under head coach C. Vivian Stringer, on Saturday, November 9.  Coppin returns to the Baltimore area for a local matchup at UMBC on November 13 before hosting Saint Peter's on Friday, November 15 at 11 am in advance of National Education Week.
 
A six-game road trip follows the clash with the Peacocks, starting with visits to Marshall (Nov. 19) and West Virginia (Nov. 21) before shorter travels to La Salle (Nov. 26) and George Washington (Dec. 1).  CSU will then make an excursion to the Mount Rushmore State to take on South Dakota State, who made the Sweet Sixteen last season, on December 5, and NCAA qualifier South Dakota on December 7.
 
Coppin will have ten days to recover from its outing in the Plains prior to hosting Niagara on Tuesday, December 17 at 3 pm.  CSU closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule with back-to-back games against Cincinnati (Dec. 30) and Dayton (Dec. 31), both of whom made the NIT last season.
 
MEAC play features home-and-home matchups against Delaware State, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Norfolk State and South Carolina State.  The Eagles will host North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central while making trips to Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M.
 
The conference schedule opens with South Carolina State and Norfolk State coming to Baltimore on January 4 and January 6, respectively.  A three-game homestand starts on January 18 against North Carolina A&T and ending with Howard on January 27.  Sandwiched between is Coppin's rivalry game against Morgan State on Saturday, January 25.
 
CSU will be on the road for the majority of February with home games against North Carolina Central (Feb. 8) and Maryland Eastern Shore (Feb. 10).  Homecoming and Senior Night is set for February 22 against Delaware State.
 
The 2020 MEAC Tournament is set for March 9-14. 2020 at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
 
Senior Chance Graham leads three starters who return for the Eagles which advanced to the MEAC Quarterfinals last season.  One of the top rebounders in the Nation, Graham was a Second Team All-MEAC selection and the conference's Defensive Player of the Year last season.
