Manu, Westcarr, Women's Track Honored by USTFCCCA for Success On & Off the Track

NEW ORLEANS – Coppin State's women's track & field team was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team while Joseph Manu and Theodore Westcarr of the men's team received All-Academic honors, it was announced by the organization on Monday afternoon. 
 
In order to be named as an All-Academic Team, the institution must have recorded at least a 3.0 grade point average for the academic year.  Individuals were selected if they recorded at least a 3.25 GPA for the academic year and were ranked in either the Top 48 nationally in their indoor events or participated in any NCAA Championship round during the outdoor season.
 
Coppin's women's team recorded a 3.13 GPA for the 2018-19 academic year and was one of 227 Division I women's teams to be honored. 
 
A sophomore sprinter from Accra, Ghana, Manu was a 2019 USTFCCCA All-American in both the 4x100m and 4x400m Relays after helping the Eagles shatter the school-record in both events at the NCAA Championships.  Manu is also ranked second all-time at Coppin to teammate Joseph Amoah in the 100m dash, with a personal-record time of 10.35 at the Morgan State Legacy on April 19, 2019.
 
A junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., Westcarr ran a leg on the 4x100m Relay that received All-American status and broke the school-record in 39.30 at the NCAA National Championships.
