Softball Falls to Top-Seeded Bethune Cookman in Opening Game of MEAC Tournament

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Coppin State's softball team fell to top-seeded Bethune-Cookman, 8-0, in the opening game of the MEAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Ormond Beach Sports Complex.  The Eagles will face North Carolina Central in an elimination game on Thursday, May 9 at 12 pm.

How it Happened
  • Coppin went down in order in the first but Madison Didion held Bethune-Cookman scoreless in its half with a pair of strikeouts.
  • The Wildcats scored five unearned runs in the second with four hits and an error, and scored one run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
  • The Eagles lone baserunners on the day came in the fourth and fifth as Cayla Brown and Nicole Ullman drew walks.
  • Bethune-Cookman ended the game in the sixth on a leadoff home run by Kaira Cabato.
Inside the Numbers
  • Madison Didion allowed three earned runs on 11 hits while striking out two.
  • Alexis Bermudez allowed just two walks and struck out six for the Wildcats. Brianna Paysinger and Brianna Sanders had three RBI each for Bethune-Cookman.
