GREENSBORO, N.C. – After the second day of the MEAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Irwin Belk Track, the Coppin State men's team stands in seventh place overall going into the Championships on Saturday.
Highlighting the afternoon was
Joseph Amoah who broke his own school-record with a 10.09 in the 100m dash which is now the 8
th-fastest in the Nation. Amoah was edged out by one-hundredth of a second in his heat and will be the third seed in tomorrow's final which features three of the Nation's top ten sprinters (Demek Kemp and Rodney Rowe). Also in the 100m dash,
Joseph Manu qualified for the final with a 10.39, good for the fifth fastest mark of the prelims.
Aaron Lewis had a superb day as well, winning his heat of the 110m hurdles in 13.94, and he will be the second seed in the final on Saturday.
Also qualifying for Championships on Saturday was
Anija Addison in the 800m Run with a time of 1:52.23. Addison finished second in his heat and his performance was the third-fastest of the day.
Abayie Opuni just missed out on qualifying in the 400m dash, placing ninth in 47.30.
Scoring points for the Eagles on Friday was
Balvin Richards, who took fourth in the shot put (51-01.50),
Tyrek Goy, who placed fifth in the decathlon (5,061), and
Michael Scott, whose mark of 23-02.50 in the long jump was good for sixth place.
