Amoah, Lewis, Manu Qualify for East Prelims

Amoah, Lewis, Manu and Both Men’s Relays Qualify for NCAA East Prelims on May 23-25

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Coppin State's Joseph Amoah, Aaron Lewis, Joseph Manu and both the 4x100m and 4x400m Relay have qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminaries to be held May 23-25 at Hodges Stadium, it was announced by the NCAA earlier today.
 
Amoah earned spots in both the 100m and 200m dash with times of 10.09 and 20.20, respectively.  Amoah ran the school-record times at the MEAC Championships earlier this month and ranks ninth in the 100m dash and fourth in the 200m dash.
 
Lewis' time of 13.87 in the 110m hurdles, which was also ran at the MEAC Championships, seeds him 20th in the East while Manu clocked a 10.35 in the 100m dash to qualify him in the event.
 
Amoah and Manu should make up half of the 4x100m Relay squad that ran a school-record 39.41 at the MEAC Championships to qualify for the East Regional.  They are seeded eighth in the event.
 
The 4x400m Relay earned a qualifying time of 3:09.92 at the Morgan State Legacy on April 20, 2019.
 
Amoah and Manu's 100m prelim is set for 6:55 pm on Thursday, May 23.  Lewis will kick off the day on Friday, May 24 with the 110m hurdles at 5:00 pm with the 100m quarterfinals shortly after at 6:15 pm.  Amoah will also run the 200m prelim at 7:55 pm.
 
On Saturday, May 25, the 4x100m Relay is scheduled for 6:15 pm, followed by the 110m hurdles quarterfinal at 7:20 pm, the 200m dash quarterfinal at 7:50 pm and the 4x400m Relay at 9:45 pm.
 
Twelve competitors from each individual event and relay from each preliminary site will qualify for the NCAA National Championships in Austin, Texas on June 5-8.
