Softball Celebrates Senior Day in Loss to Morgan State

BALTIMORE – Coppin State's softball team was shut out in its regular season finale by Morgan State, 11-0, on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at CSU Softball Field.

  • Records: Coppin State (9-30, 5-10 MEAC), Morgan State (20-24, 10-4 MEAC)
How it Happened
  • Prior to the game Coppin State honored its six seniors who started in the final home games: Cayla Brown, Madison Didion, Dakota Gartrell, Hatika James, Megan Narvaez and Nicole Ullman.
  • It didn't take long for Morgan State to get on the board as Damali Young led off the game with a home run.
  • The Bears tacked on three runs in the second and added six in the fourth and one more in the fifth.
  • Coppin's best chance to score came in the first as Brissa Alvarado singled and Brown was hit by a pitch to follow.  The Bears retired the next two batters to get out of the jam.
Inside the Numbers Up Next: Coppin State will travel to Ormond Beach, Fla., for the MEAC Tournament on May 8-11.
