PHILADELPHIA – Joseph Amoah took bronze in the 100 dash and anchored the 4x100m Relay to a fifth place finish in the Championship of America to lead the Coppin State track & field team at the historic Penn Relays on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field.
A junior from Greater Accra, Ghana, Amoah finished third in the 100m dash in a time of 10.31. Amoah finished just behind Houston's Mario Burke (10.20) and Anthony Schwartz of Auburn University (10.25).
In the 4x100m Championship of America, Amoah ran the final leg of the relay that finished in 40.42. Leading off the relay was
Joseph Manu, followed by
Abayie Opuni and
Theodore Westcarr.
Opuni also led off the 4x400m Relay that placed sixth in the college final in 3:21.36. He was followed by
Malik John, Anija Addison and
Cheyenne Johnson.
On the women's side, the 4x400m Relay of
Cathryn Lane,
Janee Quailes,
Ivonna Hoskins and
Tatiana Ogundeko took sixth in the Eastern College Final in 3:49.73.
The Eagles will run in the MEAC Championships on May 2-4, hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
