GREENSBORO, N.C. – Joseph Amoah won the 200m dash and took second in the 100m dash to lead the Coppin State men's track & field team at the Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T on a rainy Friday and Saturday afternoon.
Amoah blew past 67 other runners to take gold in the 200m dash on Saturday in a time of 20.98, beating the second-place finished by nearly two-tenths of a second. His time breaks him into the Nation's Top 50. On Friday, Amoah was edged out in the 100m dash with a time of 10.23 to rank 11
th in NCAA Division I.
Amoah also anchored Coppin's top 4x100m Relay to a second place time of 40.94 along with
Joseph Manu,
Abayie Opuni and
Theodore Westcarr. CSU also ran a 'B' relay of
Keshaun Hodges,
Aaron Lewis,
Justin Turner and
Nku Henry (42.94)
Also medaling for the Eagles was Lewis, who took second in the 110m hurdles (14.05) and
Michael Scott, who finished third in the long jump in 23-4.75.'
Coppin also got top-ten finishes on the track from
Anija Addison in the 800m (1:52.36) to finish fourth and
Cheyenne Johnson in the 400m hurdles (54.83) to finish tenth.
In field events,
Balvin Richards took fifth in the discus (140-3) while
Jona Hanson finished sixth in the javelin (107-2).
The Eagles return to the track on April 19-20 at the Morgan State Legacy prior to running at the historic Penn Relays on April 25-27 before the MEAC Championships on May 2-4.
