Softball Wraps Up Long Road Trip with Pair of Losses at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Coppin State's softball team wrapped up an 11-game road trip with a pair of losses at Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday afternoon.  The Eagles fell, 22-4, in the opener before dropping the nightcap, 8-0.

How it Happened (Game 1)
  • Mount St. Mary's took a 2-0 lead after an inning before Coppin cut the lead in half with a run in the second on a RBI double by Haley Bravo.
  • The Mount erupted for eight runs in its half of the second and plated three more in the third to take a 13-1 lead.
  • Kylie Flagler drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth for the second CSU run of the game but the hosts put a nine spot on the board to increase their lead.
  • Hatika James and Flagler recorded RBI singles in the fifth.

  • Coppin put a pair of runners on in the first as Kylie Flagler walked and Cayla Brown singled but the Eagles were unable to capitalize.
  • Mount St. Mary's made CSU pay with three runs before both teams went down in order in the second.
  • The Eagles also put runners on base in the next four innings but unable to score as the Mountaineers scored one in the third and two in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.
  • CSU went down in order in the sixth and the hosts put two across home to put the run-rule into effect.
Inside the Numbers (Game 2)
  • Five different Eagles recorded one base hit apiece while Kylie Flagler was the lone CSU player to reach safely twice while also drawing a walk.
  • Madison Didion struck out five over 5.2 innings, allowing eight run on eight hits.
