NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Conner Walker has been named the MEAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. He shares the award with Norfolk State's
Alsander Womack.
In the Eagles' first-ever series win at Savannah State over the weekend, Walker, a sophomore catcher from Bothell, Wash., hit .462 (6-for-13) with two doubles and four RBI while also drawing a walk and stealing a base.
To open the season at the Tigers on February 15, Walker had a double and a single in his first at-bats in a CSU uniform. He also scored a run.
The following day in the third game of the series, Walker drove Coppin's first run with an RBI single.
Walker finished the series strong with a 3-for-4 performance with a double and three RBI in the finale. Walker got the Eagles rally started with an RBI single, he also plated another runner with a bases-loaded walk before breaking the game wide open with a RBI double.
Walker and the Eagles (3-1) return to action on February 23-24 at Blandair Park in Columbia, Md. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 12 pm followed by a 12 pm first pitch on Sunday afternoon.
