COLUMBIA, S.C. – Coppin State's
Joseph Amoah won the 200m Dash to lead the men's track & field team at the USC Indoor Open on Saturday afternoon. It is the second-straight meet that Amoah won the event after taking the gold at the Boston University Scarlet & White Invitational two weeks ago.
A junior from Greater Accra, Ghana, Amoah clocked a 20.88 in the event, shaving two-hundredths of a second off his previous season-best. Amoah also took seventh overall in the 60m dash after clocking a 6.79 in the prelims.
Aaron Lewis had the next best showing for the Eagles, taking fourth in the 60m hurdles in 7.90.
Joseph Manu continued to also impress in the short sprints, taking ninth in the 200m Dash (21.43) while also finishing the 60m dash in 6.89.
Theodore Westcarr also ran a 22.05 in the 200m Dash.
Anija Addison and
Cheyenne Johnson covered the 800m Dash in near-identical times with Addison getting the upper-hand with a sixth place performance in 1:56.30. Johnson followed shortly after in 1:56.94.
In field events,
Balvin Richards tossed the shot put 44' 8.75" while
Elijah Noel leaped 20' 7.75" in the long jump.
Elsewhere on the track,
Justin Turner finished the 400m Dash in 51.24 while
Kymere Pritchett finished the 60m hurdles in 8.69.
Coppin wraps up the indoor regular season at the MEAC Championships in Landover on February 21-23.
