Track & Field Led by Lewis & Manu in Opening Day of Penn State National Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Aaron Lewis and Joseph Manu took second overall in their respective events to lead the Coppin State track & field team on the opening day of the Penn State National Open Friday night.
 
Lewis went head-to-head with Youngstown State's All-American Chad Zallow in the 60m hurdles and took the silver in 7.78.  His time matches his own school-record that he set at the Boston University Last Chance Opener on February 25, 2018.  Lewis was able to qualify for the final after notching a 7.96 in the prelims and a 7.80 in the Semifinal.
 
Manu has kept his strong debut season going with a time of 6.81 in the 60m dash to finish second overall.  Qualifying for the semifinals with a preliminary time of 6.91, Manu clocked a 6.84 to earn a place in the final.
 
Theodore Westcarr was able to advance to the semifinals of the 60m dash and finished 12th overall in the event with a time of 6.97.
 
The women's team was headed by Tre'J Johnson who finished ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 38' 5.0." 
 
Kristen Deacon also finished 19th in the weight throw (51' 3.50") while Randi Bohler covered the 60m hurdles in 9.38.
 
Also on the men's side, Kymere Pritchett finished the 60m hurdles in 8.62.
 
The Penn State National Open continues Saturday, January 26, starting with the women's 400m Dash at 10:50 am and concludes with the men's 4x400m Relay at 5:25 pm.
