NEW YORK, N.Y. – Behind wins from
Aaron Lewis and
Anija Addison, the Coppin State men's track & field team took third at the HBCU Battle Friday night at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.
Lewis ran the top time in both the prelims and finals as he took the 60m hurdles in 7.86, just off his school-record time of 7.78. Addison bested all of the competition in the 500m Dash in 1:05.09.
The Eagles got points all over the track and also in field events.
Joseph Manu led the Eagles in the short sprints, taking second in the 200m dash (22.14) and third in the 60m dash (6.86).
Theodore Westcarr also earned points in the 60m with a seventh place finish (7.04).
Joseph Amoah ran the top preliminary time 6.82 but did not run in the final.
To end the night, the 4x40m Relay clocked a time of 3:21.62 to finish in second place overall.
Points were also earned by CSU athletes in the shot put, long jump and 800m Run.
Balvin Richards took sixth in the shot put (44-7.5),
Cheyenne Johnson seventh in the 800m (2:02.14) and
Elijah Noel seventh in the long jump (21-3.25).
