COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Coppin State's men's track & field team opened its 2018 outdoor season at the Maryland Invitational on a windy Saturday afternoon.
Martin Owusu-Antwi led the Eagles as he was the top collegiate finisher in the 200m Dash in 48.14. Also competing in the event was
Anija Addison who took fifth in 50.14, as well as
Joseph Amoah (51.40) and
Justin Turner (53.70).
Cheyenne Johnson was also victorious for Coppin, taking the gold in the 400m hurdles in 55.41.
In the 200m Dash,
Babadeji Balogun and
Devin Teagle took third and sixth, respectively, in times of 22.77 and 22.99.
Running in a powerful headwind,
Tyrek Goy took fourth in the 110m hurdles while
Mark London crossed the 1,500m in 4:07.97.
In field events,
Elijah Noel took second overall with a leap of 21' 11.50 while
Balvin Richards took fifth in the discus (134' 2")
The Eagles return to the track on March 22-24 at the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
